Let me introduce myself . . .
My name is Amy Mills and I am a freelance Art Director based in the Twin Cities. I graduated from the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1997 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree concentrating in visual communication. My design career began immediately after graduating, with an opportunity to do freelance design for the Target Corporation.
Since then, my design career has always been one of organization and dependability. I take true pride in not only developing designs that exceed my clients expectations, but also exceed my own. In addition to that, I have a continual need to push myself, whether it's teaching myself html and developing my sites purely through code, or learning how to solve the Rubik's Cube in less than 4 minutes. I absolutely love a good challenge.
My design experiences have included:
> the full scope of the design process, from initial concepts to final, print-ready art for highly recognizable, Fortune 500 companies.
> working directly with clientele, presenting designs and directing the process to build a respectful and positive experience for clients.
> currently owning and operating four businesses and websites, including this site, UNIQLOVE.com, templatista.com, and sendsantamagic.com.
> rendering and illustration work.
> conceptualizing and design of in-store signage for many major retail accounts, including Target, Musicland, Rainbow Foods, Circuit City, Walmart and Staples.
> copywriting for marketing, website or sales campaigns.
> currently owning a successful custom invitation business named UNIQLOVE.
> creating a range of juvenile designs for well-known characters, including Disney Princesses, Harry Potter, DragonBallz, Winnie The Pooh, Barbie, Strawberry Shortcake and many more.
> being Lead Art Director of the interior of two published "coffee table" books, as well as design work in numerous other major brand name publications.
> directing photo shoots for both print campaigns and publication photography.
> re-design and branding of existing Target Corp. brands.
> working with architects and interior designers to develop cutting edge retail environments.
> managing release and approval processes for print materials.
